About the project

Fundación Tejedores de Sueños (literally: Dreamweavers Foundation) was born in 2010 as a local initiative in Tres Ríos, East of San José, to support secondary school students from low-income families so they can continue studying until graduating from secondary school. Starting small, with no more than 10 students, thanks to the support of Life Sciences Research Partners first, then Foundation for Education for Family Planning, we are now a more robust organization, with 150 scholars per year, and a second activity branch: awareness raising through our programmes. A short presentation: • Scholarship programme. Our scholarship programme wants to achieve more than our students just ‘passing the year’. Not only do we provide help with uniforms, school supplies and bus passes, we also give scholarships for sports and cultural activities of our scholars in some cases. • Sana Juventud / Healthy Youth Healthy Youth acknowledges that there are many more factors than a lack of money, that cause school dropout, and wants to create awareness around them through social media campaigns and projects. Our main projects in Healthy Youth are: o Al Cole en Bici A programme aimed at supplying bicycles to be used by youth in mostly rural who live a long distance from school and have no access to public transportation. The programme ran from 2021 and was successfully ended in 2023, with 1000 bicycles donated to 66 secondary schools. o Juntas al Bachi: A digital platform in which mothers can obtain their secondary school degree studying from home, whenever they have some free space and time. Launched in 2022, covering the last years before graduation, we now provide preparation for the entire secondary school. o Talleres Sana Juventud / Workshops Healthy Youth We give workshops to (pre-)teens, some of them indeed already moms, throughout the country in which we not only tackle topics of important changes during adolescence and methods for prevention of teenage pregnancies, but also how to recognize an inappropriate relationship and which ‘soft skills’ can help you into adulthood. o 100% en el Cole Since 2018 we hold a Congress in which we seek to bring together people and organizations active in the fight against various factors that cause school dropout. Each year we treat different topics.
